Shenzhen NewDEL Biotech Co., Ltd.("NewDEL Biotech"）recently announced the appointment of renowned medicinal chemist Dr. Nick Terrett, the inventor of Viagra (commonly known as "Viagra"), as the company's pharmaceutical chemistry consultant. Both parties will collaborate extensively in the field of drug development.

Dr. Nick Terrett has previously held executive positions at major pharmaceutical companies in the UK, USA, and Switzerland, including GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, and Merck, as well as at biopharmaceutical company Ensemble Therapeutics. With over 35 years of experience in drug research and development, he has been primarily responsible for drug discovery and development, organic synthesis, and medicinal chemistry in various therapeutic areas such as cardiovascular, inflammation, oncology, urology, antiviral, and antifungal.

Dr. Terrett has made significant contributions to the discovery and development of several blockbuster drugs. Particularly noteworthy is his role as the chemical project leader and inventor of sildenafil (ViagraTM). He organized and established Pfizer's first combinatorial chemistry platform and developed DNA-encoded chemical libraries and advanced macrocycles during his tenure at Ensemble Therapeutics. He also proposed the valuable "beyond the rule of 5" model.

Following his joining of NewDEL Biotech, Dr. Terrett will focus on providing extensive technical support in project initiation, new drug discovery, molecular optimization, pipeline layout, and business communication, thereby promoting more extensive communication and collaboration with international cutting-edge technology development and pharmaceutical company partnerships.

In just over a year since its establishment, NewDEL Biotech has collaborated with Professor Dingke's team at Jinan University to develop a new generation of targeted anti-tumor drugs. Additionally, collaborations have been established with Lead Pharma and Nanjing CrystalQuant to develop new drugs targeting novel targets for the development of tumor immunotherapy drugs. The DEL3.0 technology platform with independent intellectual property rights has screened and is to be screened for approximately 40 targets. Conceptual validation work on the DEL3.0 platform has been completed, and the results have been formed into papers accepted and published by high-impact SCI journal Frontiers in Chemistry.

Dr. Nick Terrett's joining will further enhance NewDEL Biotech's level of independent innovation, particularly in the areas of new drug discovery and structural optimization, laying a solid foundation for the company's internationalization.
